Covoid 19 and the 2020 Avalon League

Following on from the latest health advice regarding the Coronavirus, after much debate by the committee, the following decisions have regretfully been made.

The 2020 season will be cancelled with immediate effect on a competitive basis.  It was felt unfair to continue when some clubs may struggle to field a team due to players worries of participation.

The Mockridge Cup will not be contested this year.

There will be no Finals Day as there is no competitive season.

We still hope that the AGM will be able to go ahead but we will review this nearer the time.

We would like to encourage playing matches on a ‘friendly basis’ by agreement on both sides.  With the financial position of all golf clubs suffering under the effects of the virus restrictions, to continue playing will hopefully help matters.

For friendly matches that do go ahead, the League remove the requirement for meals but in order to help the club, the standard match fee would still be due to be paid.

It is a great shame that we have had to take these steps as we all love the game of golf and enjoy the nature of the league, but safety and our health must be a priority and common sense prevail.
